Thoroughly enjoyed this. Despite there being an infamous twist, not to be revealed, I was in fact bewitched from the start rather than hanging on for the inevitable.
This film received huge amounts of attention due to the 'twist' but this film is much more than that. I saw it almost as a tale of two films.
The warmth of the opening dialogues more than redeemed Forest Whitaker's suspect accent. Furthermore, the Stockholm syndrome idea is tossed and turned around in a frenetic way that truly unsettles and simultaneously engrosses the viewer.
The scenes in London and the consequent relationships forged and unforged are well paced and certainly not predictable. Performances throughout were of a very high quality and we are drawn into a gritty almost comedic underworld but with associable relations and feelings
