
However, it was more a depiction of a disorganised scatty arts teacher who struggles to put together a musical in Swansea due to her lack of discipline and command of respect. Not an inspiring plot line so far, so we would expect gritty or at the least emotionally involving characters accelerating our pathos for her plight.
In fact we get thoroughly bored by the meanderings of over sexed up kids which is depicted by a 10 minute montage of every character gazing at another in a hormonal daisy chain of lust. 'oh why wont you love me' 'Oh I like someone else' -gripping!
Frankly, there were too many kids to truly allow the audience to find relevance or anything beyond ambivalence and Minnie Driver, although looking stunning, played a inept role deserving little empathy or attention.
Admittedly, I was disappointed by the lack of Bowie and charm I had mistakenly expected, but what was left behind was still not enough to keep me engaged or fulfilled
